Brickyard at Riverside LogoThe Brickyard at Riverside Golf Club was established to provide a championship golf challenge nestled within the changing terrain of the Peidmont Plateau area of Georgia. The vistas create peaceful and calming reminders of the North Georgia Mountains. Fairways are framed with old, towering oaks and pines; azaleas, native grasses, and large rock formations enhance the natural beauty of winding fairways. Although the golf course was constructed in 1961, it was redesigned by tour professional Mark McCumber in 2005. From the championship tees, the course measures 7,128 yards and has a slope of 140. Mark McCumber's goal was to create eighteen unique holes each of which could arguably be considered "signature holes." Attention to detail and utilization of the natural features of the land allowed him to create his own "masterpiece." Four of the first five holes are "power hitter" holes; the next three holes require finesse and the last nine holes blend power and finesse. The Brickyard at Riverside has been described by players as a golf course where every golf club is used during the round. Along with the course itself, The Brickyard at Riverside was ranked by Golf Digest as the #12 best course in the state of Georgia. The Brickyard at Riverside has played host to the GSGA’s men’s 4-Ball Championship, the Brickyard Ladies Invitational, and the Men’s Brickyard Invitational.  The Brickyard at Riverside seeks to provide the ultimate golfing experience.

Hole #1
Par 4, 412 yards

Hole #10
Par 4, 458 yards

hole_10

A beautiful starting hole that plays shorter than the scorecard suggests.  A good tee shot leaves you with a short to middle iron to the green.  Bunkers left and right guard a severely undulated green.

A downhill par 4 that requires a perfectly placed tee shot.  Distance control is a must.  Players are then faced with a tricky iron shot to a green that has run off in excess of forty feet. The only place to miss this green is to the right which will still leave a tough shot with the green running away from the player.

Hole #2
Par 3, 217 yards

Hole #11
Par 3, 215 yards

hole_2 hole_11

A long uphill par 3 that requires a well struck shot.  Large green is guarded by a bunker right, and tall cord grass guards the left side of the hole.  Par is a good score here.

This could be the toughest par three on the course. Club selection is crutial because short is a creek and native grass while long leaves a challenging chip to a green sloping away from you. A bunker is strategiacly placed just to the left side of the green to capture any ball that is a bit left and long.

Hole #3
Par 4, 457 yards

Hole #12
Par 5, 488 yards

hole_3 hole_12

Grip It and Rip It on this long straight par 4.  Green slopes back to front to help stop middle and long iron approach shots.  Cord grass and a bunker guard the right side of the green.

A good drive up the right side of the fairway leaves the best approach to this green. Longer players will easily reach this green with an iron, but they must be careful not to hit it long. The lake surrounds the entire left and backside of this green. Once the putting surface is reached players will be face with subtle contours all over the green.

Hole #4
Par 4, 469 yards

Hole #13
Par 4, 447 yards

Keep your tee shot right to allow for a more accessible approach shot.  The pond on #5 will come into play if your tee shot is left.  Green is guarded by cord grass right and a bunker left, aim for the middle of the green.

Don’t let the yardage fool you. This plays as the longest par 4 on the course because it is straight up hill. Players must find the fairway to be able to hit the proper shot into this green. The green is elevated with a huge bunker guarding it.

Hole #5
Par 3, 195 yards

Hole #14
Par 3, 143 yards

hole_5 hole_14

Don’t be short!  This picturesque par 3 requires another solid strike.  Deep narrow bunkers and a pond guard a large difficult green.  Shoot for the middle of the green for a manageable putt.

This may be a short hole but it is well guarded with two bunkers short as well as one long. Balls that land short of the green will roll into the bunkers or into a collection area on the left side of the green. Place your tee shot in the middle of the green and take your par.

Hole #6
Par 5, 536 yards

Hole #15
Par 4, 423 yards

hole_6 hole_15

A reachable downhill par 5 that demands an accurate approach shot.  Water guards the green right, left, and long.  Along with the water, a bunker prohibits a shot from running up onto the left side of the green. This is the #1 handicap hole.

One of the shorter par 4’s on the course, but it takes a precise iron shot to hit this green. The green is only 15 paces deep at its shallowest point. There is a severe run off from the front of the green down to a valley with a deep face bunker guarding the green.

Hole #7
Par 4, 403 yards

Hole # 16
Par 4, 424 yards

hole_7 hole_16

A demanding short par 4 with out of bounds right, and a pond left on the tee shot.  The green is guarded by a creek short and left.  Aiming for the middle of the green will still provide a descent look at birdie.

A good tee shot will leave you with a good look at the green. Balls travelling over 280yds will run down to a low area that leaves a tough uphill shot. Iron shots need to be well struck to get all the way to the middle of the green.  Avoid the false front.

Hole #8
Par 4, 415 yards

Hole #17
Par 4, 448 yards

hole_8 hole_17

A dogleg left with small trees guarding the left side of the fairway.  A good drive leaves you with a short to mid-iron to the green.  The green is heavily guarded with large deep bunkers right, a pond short, and a steep drop-off left.  Par is a good score.

This is one of the toughest holes on the course. A straight tee ball will be beneficial to set up the best opportunity to go for the pin. Both left and right can leave you blocked out from being able to go for the pine. The green is long but narrow and has a lateral hazard that wraps around the entire front of it. The backside of the green has a severe slope that runs down to some of the thickest rough on the golf course.  Par is a very good score here.

Hole #9
Par 5, 477 yards

Hole #18
Par 5, 495 yards

hole_9 hole_18

Another reachable par 5, but uphill.  Avoid two very large and very deep bunkers 120 yds from the green. The green is guarded by a front bunker.  This hole offers one of the best chances for a birdie.

Tee balls that do not find the fairway will require a tough second shot.  You must hit your second shot through two large trees that guard both sides of the fairway.  The green is elevated twenty feet with two large bunkers guarding short. This is a tricky green to putt because of little nuances and run offs but still provides a good opportunity at a birdie to finish off your round.
